Scott Blumstein Headlines WPT Choctaw Main Event

The biggest name playing is current WSOP Main Event champion, Scott Blumstein. According to the WPT updates, Blumstein is still acclimating to the newfound fame. However, he is continuing to be an excellent spokesman for the game, taking selfies freely and remaining humble.
Other well-known players in the field are T.J. Cloutier, Layne Flack, Allen Kessler, Jeremy Ausmus, and WPT commentator Tony Dunst. Cloutier has something of a homecourt advantage – he lives in nearby Richardson, Texas.
Storylines to watch
- More magic from New Jersey: can Scott Blumstein find his way to the championship at this event? With unlimited re-entries, you never know if he might throw a few bullets into the ring. He certainly has the bankroll to do so.
- Defending champion going strong: James Mackey is back this year to defend his crown. Is a second straight WPT title in the cards?
- A poker surge in the works: with the third-largest field in WSOP history this year and the resurgence of Poker After Dark, is poker beginning to re-emerge after a lull?

This event has two flights on Day 1. Day 1B will commence Saturday at 12:00 p.m. CST. The final table will run on Monday, August 8.
Each Day 1 flight will play twelve levels. Levels are one hour each.
If last year’s tournament is any indication, the winner’s share will be roughly 18% of the prize pool. This year’s champion will take home at least $350,000 for four days of work.
The champion will also earn a seat in the WPT Tournament of Champions. This seat, worth $15,000, will put another six-figure payout in the mix for the winning player.
How to follow the action
The World Poker Tour will record the final table of this event for broadcast. However, the final table from last year’s tournament did not air until March of this year. So, it is unlikely that this event will air anytime soon.
Unfortunately, there does not appear to be an option to live stream the tournament, either. The best option for live updates is through WorldPokerTour.com itself, or through the WPT’s official Twitter.
Of course, if you’re really feeling adventurous, you can still the tournament. Choctaw is a beautiful facility and a treat for any poker player.
